REEL TIME IN TE ANAU. ‘Reel Light’ in Te Anau. (An Engagement 21 Venture for St Michael and All Angels). Jenny Tapsell writes: “A number of years ago I read a copy of Refresh (put out by Spiritual Growth Ministries), which was titled ‘Reel Light’. Essentially it was about the way in which movies can aid our spiritual journey, and as someone who enjoys movie I was attracted to such a practice. Using our networks we shared our idea with others and eventually gathered together to view our first film during Holy Week. It was a Japanese film was ‘Departures’ (Japanese), followed a few weeks later by ‘As it is in Heaven’ (Swedish), and then more recently ‘Babette’s Feast’ (Danish), and finally ‘Life is Beautiful ‘(Italian). It was great to watch a movie and discuss it briefly over afternoon tea with folk; some of who do not attend church, but like us recognise the value that film can play in our lives. We look forward to future viewings next winter”.
